The Commission is the governing body of Morgan County. The major areas of responsibilities of the Commission are as follows:

Administer the County’s finances.
Serves as custodians of all County property.
Collect taxes as required by state law.
To promote Tourism and Industrial Development within Morgan County.
To oversee construction and maintenance of County roads and bridges.

The Commission Office Staff is responsible for the enforcement and administration of the policies and procedures adopted by the Commission and provides administrative support to other county offices.

The regular meetings of the Morgan County Commission are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Commission Chamber is located on the fifth floor of the Morgan County Courthouse at 302 Lee Street, N.E., Decatur, Alabama.

All meetings of the Morgan County Commission are open to the public with the exception of executive sessions. Most meetings are televised for the citizen’s convenience and involvement.
